One year of pandemic occasions ritual

Five Elements by Keiko Lessing

In his essay "The One Year Mark: Ritual + Accompaniment through the Pandemic Portal," Adam Horowitz invites to do than commemorate the arrival of the one year anniversary of COVID, but to find some ritual to make of this period "a threshold crossing for individual and collective transformation." One Qigong practice I've made rare use of in the sessions I've led over the past decade is the Chinese Medicine Wheel, a combination of breath-gesture-intention that has us rotate to all four cardinal points, gathering Qi and delivering to the corresponding organ systems, as we contemplate the corresponding elements and seasons. I will be incorporating this practice into each of my regular Monday through Friday sessions this week, as our ritual to acknowledge what we have lost, what we have gained, what has enabled us to endure. Won't you join us? No prior experience is necessary. The schedule and Zoom links are below. For the password, please write MindBodyLosAngeles@gmail.com. * Mondays, 7:00-8:00PM. Standing Qigong.
